JCR Online

June 12, 2007

The online Journal Citation Reports has been added to the Databases page and to the New Databases page. The Library has subscribed to the two series of Journal Citation Reports (JCR)Science Citation Index and Social Sciences Citation Index–for a number of years on microfiche. Editions for 1989-2005 in that format are available in the Reference Collection (at Ref Q1B .S372 and H1B .S6361 respectively). This represents a change in format; the microfiche edition has been cancelled. Currently 2005 is available online.

Journal Citation Reports (via ISI Web of Knowledge) “presents quantifiable statistical data that provides a systematic, objective way to evaluate the world’s leading journals and their impact and influence in the global research community. In 2005 JCR expanded its analytical capabilities beyond the journal level to include the subject category level. The additional data makes it easier for users to understand performance metrics in context and facilitate collection management decisions. Related Journals enable users to see which journals share citations, and are therefore related. This analytical feature is available at both the journal level and the journal category level.”

The online Journal Citation Reports includes the JCR Science Edition, which covers over 5,900 leading international science journals, and the JCR Social Science(s) Edition, which covers over 1,700 leading international social sciences journals.
